We swore in our new President, Barack Obama today. The networks provided live coverage for the whole day and the whole Nation watched as Barack flubbed the oath – but it was not his fault. The Chief Justice flubbed it first and Barack tried to be gracious and do it right, but it just didn’t fly.

They made him take the oath a second time, in private, in an over abundance of caution. Wouldn’t want to have a lawsuit over the very first thing he does!

Let’s see if we have big change that Obama went around promising. We need help down here in the homelands and I’m not talking about giving away billions of taxpayer dollars to wall sreet brokers and greedy mortgage company executives.

Last night was a great way to celebrate greeting the New Year. We went to a public party held at the firehouse. All the volunteer firemen were there with their wives or girlfriends. They hired both a DJ and a live band for the night. The DJ played requests while the band took their 20 minute breaks.

It was BYOB except that the firemen provided a a little plastic champagne glass with bubbly at midnight for the toast. They stopped the music at a couple minutes before midnight and put the Dick Clark New York City show on the widescreen TV and we all joined in with the countdown to 2009 and watched the ball drop. It was very cool.
