Billy Joe Shave is one of the best songwriters ever. His songs have been recorded and performed by hundreds of musicians. His life has been a typical country song, as well. If you get a chance to hear one of his shows, you won’t be disappointed.

The little bit that I watch TV is usually on CBS. But for the past several days they have been broadcasting nothing but college basketball games for the March Madness tournament games. I like a good pro game of basketball – live – once in a while. But watching basketball on TV is boring as hell. I am just leaving the TV off and listening to music for the night.

This week is a weird one in Nashville. It is the week that country music radio stations are taken around town to a lot of dog and pony shows. They are wined and dined and seranaded by all the labels. There are huge stars here, mixed in with dozens of hopefuls. Tonight I’m heading out to the Renaissance Hotel to hear a showcase anchored by Billy Dean. It will be really good to see him again – it’s been years.

The Grammys were so predictable. I picked every winner except for Lady Antebellum. I don’t like that group all that much, and let my personal distaste for them cloud my judgement.

The show was too long and I got bored with it. They need to do something different next year if they want to keep the young viewers coming back to watch it.
