This week is a weird one in Nashville. It is the week that country music radio stations are taken around town to a lot of dog and pony shows. They are wined and dined and seranaded by all the labels. There are huge stars here, mixed in with dozens of hopefuls. Tonight I’m heading out to the Renaissance Hotel to hear a showcase anchored by Billy Dean. It will be really good to see him again – it’s been years.

For Valentine’s Day, I serenaded my girlfriend from the front yard of her house after she got home from work. I’ve never done anything like that before. It was pretty cool. She loved it, especially since we didn’t get to spend the together, as she had to work all day and has an early shift tomorrow.

Have you ever missed a show because of the wrong time zone? I’m about sick to death of having to always subtract an hour from advertised show times because I happen to live in the Central Time Zone. Sorry East Coast, but the whole world does not revolve around your sense of time and the Eastern Time Zone.

In today’s advanced technology environment, why can’t the cable promos adjust for who is watching and what time zone they live in? I’m just saying . . .

There are a lot of Christmas songs that I really like. They are soothing and bring forth lots of good memories from childhood holidays and pageants. Then again, there are some songs that I am sick of hearing. They are overplayed and worn out. Like the Grandma got run over by a Reindeer song. It is cute the first few times you hear it and then maybe once or twice a year after that. But to hear it 2-3 times every day for a month is beyond annoying.

So a good buddy asked me to name my favorite Christmas song on his Facebook page. I think overall, the “Little Drummer Boy” is my top favorite, followed by “Silent Night.”
