Heard that about half of the Lillith Fair concerts have been canceled. I don’t know why those people were expecting sellouts at all their shows in this distressed economy. It was some really poor planning on the part of the concert organizers to even book some of those 3rd tier cities. Even more stupid to cancel all the low selling shows, when some of them could have easily been combined.

Heard a bluegrass band the other day. I was surprised that I liked their music. I’m not normally a fan of bluegrass. But their style was less twangy and more modern in some way. If you have a chance to give them a listen, I’d recommend you grab it.

This whole week, Nashville’s clubs are dedicated to songwriters. We are hosting the Tin Pan South festival and conference. This is the perfect time to hear the people who write songs perform them the way they wrote them. An all access pass is only $90 for unlimited shows at a dozen different venues. Looking forward to hearing a lot of great music this week.

Billy Joe Shave is one of the best songwriters ever. His songs have been recorded and performed by hundreds of musicians. His life has been a typical country song, as well. If you get a chance to hear one of his shows, you won’t be disappointed.

For Valentine’s Day, I serenaded my girlfriend from the front yard of her house after she got home from work. I’ve never done anything like that before. It was pretty cool. She loved it, especially since we didn’t get to spend the together, as she had to work all day and has an early shift tomorrow.
